RÓ-ish ​​​

RÓ-ish is a multi-disciplinary creative, curator, commentator and DJ. 

​

Her obsession with rave and sound system culture developed during her school days, dancing in front of speakers stacked in Scottish fields long before she entered a club. Her love affair with music its ability to be a catalyst for resistance normally weaves its way into all of her work across of the different art forms that she dabbles in. 

​

​With a background in performance, music journalism and a decade and a half of raving, it’s not a surprise RÓ-ish found herself exploring the other side of the decks shortly after moving to Berlin. She received her DJ schooling via community-driven Tooflez Muzik, and illegal rave family, Fraktion Nimmersatt; playing at legendary off-locations and D.I.Y spaces. 

 

In 2023 she was invited to be a musical resident by art gallery Untergeschoss Der Pandora, where she was given the platform to explore building sets outside of a dance floor context and her own curation. 

 

 She is currently a resident for ’Tunnel of Extravaganza’ Diskota Forte. Also co-founder of new project, Irl, on a mission to produce Phone-Free multi-disciplinary events, explore new concepts, plus document and celebrate artists in their Zine as an alternative to social-media dependence. 

 

Music-wise, the UK raised her as naturally genre-fluid, but her sonic pallet favours outside-the-box percussion patterns paired with low end frequencies - plus a healthy dose of bleeps and bloops. 

 

She approaches digging and DJing as an ongoing research project into sampling and the cross-pollination of different genres and cultures. Always on the hunt for the ‘ish’ tunes (where you can’t quite describe it as exactly one thing or another) celebrating how music connects us and makes the world seem smaller during times where it also seems like it's about to end, to bring some kind of hope, connection and resilience. “We are all one big remix
